ICW Northbound – MM 335 to 267 – Day 10

It’s Mother’s Day!! I woke up to flowers and the boys fixed us girls a delicious crab Benedict breakfast. It was really sweet and delicious.

Afterwards, we packed up the boat said our goodbyes and headed north. With both of us feeling terrible at this point we really wanted to get back to Beaufort but knew we didn’t have enough time and energy to do it all in one day. Instead, we ended up at Harbour Village marina near Topsail. Part of our day included going through Wrightsville Beach. I can’t even describe the chaos here. There was a 2 mile stretch of no wake zone and it was literally almost bumper to bumper boats. It was the weekend but it was still WAY too many people. I have no idea how anyone finds that enjoyable. I’ve been in NYC traffic that wasn’t this bad. The Fourth of July on SML will seem tame now. We had been entertaining ideas of keeping the boat at the coast but this made the decision easy.

The whole day was probably our worst day so far. Maybe because we are sick or maybe it was the five foot swells in the cape fear river? Oh did I mention I also got a migraine? The no see-ums chased us to bed almost immediately after putting Peyton to bed. Tomorrow will be a better day!
