We left Georgetown early hoping to get to Charleston at a decent time. Most of the trip was less eventful than past days. We passed a lot of marshy low lying areas and a lot less boats. The day was pretty uneventful until I decided to drive. Somehow we all of a sudden went from 15ft of water to 3ft. I quickly let Philip take back over.
We came in to Isle of Palms and saw some gorgeous houses along the waterway and then went under the connector bridge. I could see the harbor in the distance! Crossing the harbor, we went slowly (about 10mph) to make sure we stayed in the proper channel. We got pretty close to Fort Sumter and the Battery! I just love the beauty of this town.
We had an easy sheltered docking at the Harbourage at Ashley River which just so happens to be almost right under the bridge to James Island and Folly Beach. We plan to stay here two days to get some rest and some laundry done and be in Charleston. Philip met a guy on the dock who helped blast channel entrances to St. Thomas, St. Croix and St. John. He also was involved in clearing land for the airport runway in STT! (Philip happen to have his X on St. John shirt on)
We took the marina shuttle to Fleets Landing for dinner. I had the BEST seafood pasta and the chilled crab dip was all crab and delicious. We probably had the worst view outside and it was still beautiful. We topped off the night with some park swinging and an early bedtime.
