We left around 645am for our 125 miles trek up the ICW to Ocean Isle. We were able to stay on a plane (25mph) for almost a solid 3 hours which helped us make really good time. We passed back through Myrtle Beach and the rock pile. This time it was at a lower tide and you could see more rocks. It was still an unnerving experience but we made it through just fine.
We stopped at Ian’s Waterway Bar & Grill (It has been renamed Captain Archie’s) in little river for lunch. This was a cute little place overlooking the ICW with a great dock. I was surprised how few places along our trip that didn’t offer better docking for eating. This was one of the few places that made it easy to tie up and go eat. We then went the last 15 miles to Ocean Isle easily. Getting into the channel was tricky with a skinny entrance and about 3 ft depths. We took it really slowly and thankfully didn’t have any other boaters.
Even though Philip and I both have developed nasty upper respiratory infections over the past day or so our friends still graciously welcomed us with open arms. (And LOTs of excitement from the three year old) It will be nice to sleep in a real bed tonight!
